Medical Services
Health consciousness is limited only to the privileged ones in society, who have extravagant facilities at their disposal. But there are people in this world for whom, basic healthcare is a distant dream. In the absence of support for health care & treatment, people are pushed towards poverty, permanent disabilities, and dependence at times leading to loss of lives. We at MESCO believe that everyone has the right to access medical support without suffering hardships.
MESCO Medical services aims to provide the best possible aid to all those who are financially challenged and struggling with their medical needs since 1976. Our aid ranges from Medical requirements like routine investigation, MRI, monthly medicines for Chronic Ailments, Minor surgeries to Major surgeries, long-term treatment, Dialysis, etc. MESCO facilitates the Act of Kindness in helping patients lead towards recovery and aims to continue our efforts. This is possible only with the help of our benevolent donors in putting the patients' lives at ease. MESCO provides Medical Aid to patients through the following schemes.
Life Saving Medical Aid (LSMA)
It is through our decades of observation that the government in spite of having substantial public health infrastructure has its own set of limitations in catering to the diverse medical needs of Mumbai’s population. The addition of the migrant population coming to Mumbai in the surge for health care support brings in additional challenges.
MESCO’s Medical services has been working with various government hospitals such as L.T.M.G. Hospital, K.E.M. Hospital, B.Y.L. Nair Hospital, J.J Hospital, G.T Hospital, St. George Hospital, Bhabha Hospital, Shatabdi Hospital since 1976. With the help of its donors MESCO provides financial assistance to the poor patients for their surgeries and treatments at Govt. hospitals.
Life Saving Medical Aid scheme provides financial Aid to poor and deserving patients suffering from various medical and surgical conditions for their expensive treatments. This scheme caters to the patients from Pan India who are being treated in Mumbai at Municipal and State Govt. hospitals for pre-planned surgeries and treatments.
Patients suffering from Cardiac related ailments, Cancer, Cochlear implants, Orthopedic issues, Hormone deficiency, Hepatitis, Aplastic Anemia, Gullian Barre syndrome (GBS), ITP, Immunodeficiency diseases, and various other chronic ailments are helped through this scheme.
Chronic diseases are the leading causes of disability and premature death among the elderly population in India. About 21% of the elderly in India reportedly have at least one chronic disease. In India, one in four people is likely to die of a chronic disease. Treatment of chronic disease prevents the progression and recurrence of the disease. Medical Aid scheme enables support for the patients for the pathological investigations and the monthly medicines treatment for their chronic illnesses like Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiac ailments, Chronic Kidney Disease, Epilepsy, Psychological Disorders, etc. The MA scheme also provides medical support for minor surgeries at Govt. hospitals, Cataract surgeries, MRIs, CT scans, PET scans, Genetic Tests, and Prosthesis. Timely and continuous medical support enables patients to live normal lives.
Kidney Failure patients or patients with End Stage Renal Disease undergo hemodialysis, which is a procedure to remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys stop working. This process for many such patients is 3 to 4 times a week, extending to 12 times every month. Poor living conditions and risks associated call urgent attention to such needy families. Due to lack of affordability, patients “undertreat” themselves - (Instead opt for less no. of dialysis example 2 instead of 4) which exposes them to higher risks of morbidity. It is extremely disheartening to see kids and young teens who are undergoing dialysis treatment running from pillar to post for collecting funds for treatment, instead of attending schools or colleges during adolescence. To overcome such difficulties MESCO provides financial aid for Dialysis treatment through this scheme. The scheme provides financial assistance for covering the Dialysis cost of patients suffering from Chronic Renal Failure and helps them to live a healthy life.
The scheme is further divided into two distinct components.
Six Months Dialysis Support Scheme:
Renal failure patients undergoing Dialysis are provided financial assistance for their Six months dialysis cost. Patients are selected on the basis of a lottery. To maintain transparency, lots are drawn in front of the applicants and selected beneficiaries are supported for their Six months dialysis expenses.
Sustained Dialysis Support (SDS):
The organization provides financial assistance for Dialysis under the Sustained Dialysis Support Scheme to deserving patients. These were selected from those who were under 6 month’s dialysis support. The scheme was started in the year 2012-13, where lifetime Dialysis Support is being provided to highly deserving cases for Dialysis and Injection costs. There are few patients supported with the lifetime Injection Cost for Dialysis. All the cases inducted under the SDS scheme are fully sponsored cases. If a donor is interested in the sponsorship the vacancy is created and a new deserving dialysis patient is inducted under this scheme.
